Why I Am Building A Habit Of Writing Daily After My 9 To 5 Job (And Why You Should Too)?
I'm a veteran in my 9 to 5 job.
It pays me well, is valued well by the top management and is extremely stable. Still, I'm actively trying to build a habit of writing every day.
Why?
Writing Is The Easiest Way To Build A Personal Identity
I don't want to be known as just another 9 to 5 worker. I want to build a separate identity for myself outside of my day job.
I want to be known for -
- The things that I've learned over the years.
- The ideas that I've developed inside myself from my experience and knowledge.
- And, the things that I create and leave behind me in this world.
When people associate an expected value with a particular name, it becomes a brand. I want to share my knowledge, ideas etc. with my readers so that they associate that value with my name.
I want to build a personal brand.
Your personal brand enables you to build an audience in your niche
You can build an audience by writing about your niche on online platforms like X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Medium etc.
This audience is your digital leverage. It can help you achieve 10x more than your 9 to 5 job -
- You can sell your products to make money.
- Making more money gives you more free time.
- Free time gives you the options to explore more things you're interested in and build more leverages.
It's like a flywheel. Once you build the first one, building the next one becomes easier.
Writing online is the easiest way to start building your digital leverage. You need nothing more than a laptop and an internet connection to get started. That's why I think that every 9 to 5 worker who want to build their own brand should start by writing online first.
