About this site
Hello and welcome!
Since you've reached this page, I assume that you are curious to know more about this website.
Things like -
- Who is Deb Banerjee? What does he do?
- What purpose does this website serve?
Let me introduce myself quickly
I am Deb Banerjee. I am the creator of this website even though I don't own it.
I write, design and develop here along with others. You can compare it with a community playground. Where some people like me come and play together to create things.
Things ? What do you mean by things ?
I'll come to that in a minute.
First, let me share a bit more about us. I turned 39 last February. I'm lucky to have comfortable and secured job. So money is not problem.
Yet, I've got this never ending itch to try and learn new things. And then, help others to learn them faster and better by utilizing my experience. (Did I sound meta? 🤔)
I write stories, insights and deep-dives on topics like -
- Quick learning
- Memory building.
- Mastery based learning - science backed method for mastering what you learn etc.
You may call it learning how to learn or meta-learning. but I prefer to call it better-learning.
Better-Learning is the Thing
If you want a formal definition...
Better-learning is the practice of deliberately trying to master what you're learning by applying some scientifically established facts about how the human brain works.
These are not mere bookish concepts. I apply them everyday in my own life to learn new skills. (If you're curious, you can read what I'm learning currently here.)
I guess my love for writing roots from the fact that it helps me find the holes in my knowledge and fill them up quickly.
I also get quick feedback from my readers. All these reinforces my knowledge.
I needed a platform to reach more people
Besides writing, I also build small tools to apply what I've learnt.
The only difference is that, previously I used to do this alone. Before this, I've written in my notebooks only. When I wanted to share these with other people, I had to carry my notebooks, Â create slides from my notes etc.
I was feeling the need to have a platform where I could organize my leanings and experiences neatly.
I also wanted to engage with a lot more people that before.
It's a work-in-progress. I guess it'll never be a finished project as it'll keep growing as long as I can keep learning, writing and teaching.
I'll be happy if you think it as a helpful resource. Enjoy you time here!
